ABOUT THE PROJECT-ACERCA DEL PROYECTO

THIS NEW PROJECT STARTED WITH THE VISION OF TWO DANCERS/BALLET MASTERS ROBERTO LARA AND MARIBEL MICHEL: DUE TO NEED OF FINDING A MORE COMPLEX, DEEPER AND FREE WAY TO EXPRESS THE HUMAN PASSIONS USING A VERY BASIC MOVEMENT, BASED ON THE HUMAN BEING. OUR COMPANY POLICY IS CREATED HIGHLY ORIGINAL DANCE, PRODUCTIONS, FOCUSING ON A COLLABORATIVE AND OPEN PROCESS WITH NEW CHOREOGRAPHERS, LEADING TO WORK THAT IS INDIVIDUAL AND UNIQUE. IS A VIBRANT DANCE COMPANY THAT PRESENTS INSPIRATIONAL CONTEMPORARY/MODERN WORK USING NATURAL HUMAN MOVEMENT VOCABULARY TO CREATE AN ELOQUENT, UNPREDICTABLE DANCE AESTHETIC. BY, PUSHING A HUMAN-LIKE FORM INTO NEW CONCEPTUAL TERRITORIES, THE COMPANY´S WORK REFLECTS THE MEETING OF ANCIENT MOVEMENT THOUGHT WITH CONTEMPORARY EXPERIENCE.

ESTE NUEVO PROYECTO SE INICIÓ DE LA VISIÓN DE DOS BAILARINES Y MAESTROS DE BALLET ROBERTO LARA Y MARIBEL MICHEL DEBIDO A LA NECESIDAD DE ENCONTRAR UNA FORMA MÁS COMPLEJA, PROFUNDA Y LIBRE DE EXPRESAR LAS PASIONES HUMANAS CON UN MOVIMIENTO BÁSICO BASADO EN EL SER HUMANO. NUESTRA POLÍTICA COMO COMPAÑÍA ES CREAR PRODUCCIONES DE DANZA MUY ORIGINALES, CENTRÁNDOSE EN UN PROCESO COLABORATIVO Y ABIERTO A NUEVOS COREÓGRAFOS Y CON TRAYECTORIA, LO QUE LLEVA A TRABAJAR DE FORMA INDIVIDUAL Y ÚNICA. ES UNA COMPAÑÍA DE DANZA VIBRANTE QUE SE INSPIRA EN EL ARTE CONTEMPORÁNEO/MODERNO USANDO UN VOCABULARIO NATURAL DEL SER HUMANO PARA CREAR UNA ELOCUENTE, IMPREDECIBLE Y ESTÉTICA DANZA. PULSANDO UNA FORMA SIMILAR A LA HUMANA EN NUEVOS TERRITORIOS CONCEPTUALES, EL TRABAJO DE LA COMPAÑÍA REFLEJA LA REUNIÓN DEL PENSAMIENTO DEL MOVIMIENTO MODERNO CON LA EXPERIENCIA CONTEMPORÁNEA.

ROBERTO LARA Executive Director and Dancer-Director Ejecutivo y Bailarín

A native of Mexico City, Mexico, began his training at the Escuela Nacional de Danza Clasica y Contemporanea . He has danced with Compañía Nacional de Danza (México), Ballet Nacional de Cuba, Ardentia Ballet, Somedance Company, Compañía del Noroeste de México and Comp­añía Rosas. 
In 2004 he received gold medal in the International Dance Competition of the Inter-American Federation of Dance Professionals in the category of classical pas de deux. In 2008, 2010 and again in 2012 he was bestowed with the award for Excellence in Classical Dance Performance from The National Foundation for Culture and the Arts of Mexico (FONCA). 

He was a soloist member of the internationally acclaimed Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo touring throughout the Americas, Europe, and Asia from 2006 to 2012. During 2012-13 he was a guest dancer with Be'er Sheva Dance Company (Israel) and Ballet Hispanico of NYC (USA). Currently he is the artistic director and dancer in Dance@SaintPeter's (US) and executive director and dancer with Lara Michel Dance Project. 

Originario de la Ciudad de México, comenzó su entrenamiento y egresó de la Escuela Nacional de Danza Clásica y Contemporánea. Bailó con la Compañía Nacional de Danza (México), el Ballet Nacional de Cuba, Ardentía Ballet, Somedance Company, Compañía del Noroeste de México y Compañía Rosas. 

En 2004 recibió la medalla de oro en la Competencia Internacional de Danza de la Federación Interamericana de Profesionales de Danza en la categoría de Pas de Deux Clásico, en 2008, 20l0 y 2012 fue galardona con la premio a la Excelencia en la Ejecución de la Danza Clásica por el Fondo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes-FONCA de México. 

Fue miembro solista del internacionalmente aclamado Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, realizando giras por todo el continente Americano, Europa y Asia desde 2006 hasta 2012. Durante 2012-2013 fue bailarín invitado de la compañía de Danza Be´er Sheva (Israel) y de Ballet Hispánico de Nueva York. Actualmente es director artístico y balarín en Dance@SaintPeter´s (US) y director ejecutivo y bailarín en Lara Michel Dance Project.

MARIBEL MICHEL Artistic Director and Dancer-Directora Artística y Bailarina

She is a dancer and contemporary dance teacher born in Guadalajara, Mexico.

She initiated her studies in classical dance in 1992 in Guadalajara, Jalisco with the teachers Sonia Canut and Zenén Huelves from the Cuban National Ballet.

Her professional career as a dancer began as a soloist by invitation of the Dance School of Guadalajara, Dir. Marianné Alarcón and then she joined the group Atelier Balleteatro Contemporáneo directed by Sergio Vicencio. She continued her development as a dancer in Mexico City when she participated with the teacher Reyna Pérez in the Ardentía Dance Company, as a guest dancer in Project Bará of professor Javier Contreras, the University’s Contemporary Dance Company under the direction of Raquel Vázquez and Aurora Agüeria, the Balam Group directed by Olga Rodríguez and with the choreographer Manuel Márquez.

 In 2001 she became co-founder, alongside Professor Miguel Ángel Palmeros of the dance company Momentos Corpóreos, and since then, she has worked there as general director. Currently she is  the artistic director of Lara Michel Dance Project.

She has participated in the International Contemporary Dance Exhibit in Guadalajara, Jalisco; the “José Limón” XVIII International Dance Festival in Culiacán, Sinaloa; the “Lila López” XXI and XXII Contemporary Dance International Festival in San Luis Potosí, the Quimera Arts and Culture International Festival in the State of Mexico, the II International Arts Festival in Naucalpan, the VII Contemporary Dance International Congress of Soloists and Duets in Culiacán, Sinaloa; the International Festival of Danced Soliloquys and Dialogues 2010 in Mexico City; the “Morelos Tierra de Encuentro” III Dance International Festival, the X Summer International Festival “Viva Vivaldi”, the International Festival of Life Art, XVI International Contemporary Dance Festival in Michoacán, among others. 

IV and V Latin Choreographers Festival in New York, USA; V Internacional Contemporary Dance Festival in Cochabamba, Bolivia.  

Bailarina y maestra de danza contemporánea originaria de Guadalajara, México.
Inicia sus estudios de danza clásica en 1992 en Guadalajara, Jalisco con los maestros Sonia Canut y Zenén Huelves del Ballet Nacional de Cuba.

Su carrera profesional como  bailarina inicia como solista invitada por la Escuela de Danza de Guadalajara, Dir. Marianné Alarcón  y se integra al grupo Atelier Balleteatro Contemporáneo dirigido por Sergio Vicencio. Continúa su desarrollo como bailarina en México D.F. participando con la maestra  Reyna Pérez en la Compañía de Danza Ardentía, como bailarina invitada en Proyecto Bará del maestro Javier Contreras, la Compañía Danza Contemporánea Universitaria bajo la dirección de Raquel Vázquez y Aurora Agüeria, el Grupo Balam dirección Olga Rodríguez y con el coreógrafo Manuel Márquez.

Co-fundadora con el Mtro. Miguel Ángel Palmeros de la compañía de danza Momentos Corpóreos en 2001 y desde entonces se desempeña como su directora general. Actualmente es directora artística del Lara Michel Dance Project.

Ha participado en la Muestra Internacional de Danza Contemporánea en Guadalajara, Jalisco; el XVIII Festival Internacional de Danza “José Limón” en Culiacán, Sinaloa; el XXI y XXII Festival Internacional de Danza Contemporánea “Lila López” en San Luís Potosí, el Festival Internacional de Arte y Cultura Quimera en Metepec Edo. De México, el II Festival Internacional de las Artes Naucalpan, el VII Encuentro Internacional de Danza Contemporánea de Solistas y Duetos en Culiacán, Sinaloa; el Festival Internacional Soliloquios y Diálogos Bailados 2010 en México DF, el III Festival Internacional de Danza “Morelos Tierra de Encuentro”, El X Festival Internacional de Verano “Viva Vivaldi”, el Festival Internacional de Arte Vivo, el XVI Festival Internacional de Danza Contemporánea de Michoacán, entre otros.
